🍎 Teacher Truth
You don’t need another job. You need another skill.
When I first started looking for ways to improve our finances, I believed I only had two choices.
Work more hours.
Or spend less money.
And still come up short.
As teachers, we’re used to working hard. We tutor after school, teach summer school, coach, or pick up extra responsibilities because we care about our students and want to provide for our families.
For years, I thought earning more money meant sacrificing more of my time.
Looking back, I realize I was asking the wrong question.
Instead of asking, “Where can I work more?”
I should have been asking,
“What can I learn that could change my future?”
That one shift in thinking changed everything.
💙 My Story
I’ve been searching for ways to earn extra income for more than twenty years.
Along the way, I tried bookkeeping, selling products on eBay, writing books, creating teacher resources, Amazon Reviews, self-publishing, and eventually affiliate and digital marketing.
Some of those ventures earned more than others.
Some taught me lessons the hard way.
But none of them were wasted.
Every experience gave me another skill.
Every skill prepared me for the next opportunity.
Today, I still teach full-time—a career I truly love—but I’m also building multiple income streams that give me more flexibility and more choices for my future.
Not because I found a secret.
Because I never stopped learning.
🌱 The Lesson
One of the biggest myths I believed was that making more money meant working more hours.
Today, I see things differently.
Learning a new skill has created opportunities that working another shift never could.
That doesn’t mean success happens overnight.
It doesn’t mean every new idea will work perfectly.
It simply means that investing in yourself can create possibilities that didn’t exist before.
As teachers, we encourage our students to be lifelong learners every single day.
Maybe it’s time we extend that same encouragement to ourselves.
✨ This Week’s Encouragement
If you’ve been thinking about creating extra income, don’t start by asking:
“What’s the easiest side hustle?”
Instead, ask yourself:
“What’s one skill I’m willing to learn?”
That question changed my life.
Maybe it will change yours, too.
🌿 Teacher Reflection
What’s one new skill you’d like to learn that could create more choices for your future?
Sometimes the first step isn’t working harder.
Sometimes it’s simply giving yourself permission to begin.
If you’re curious about learning affiliate and digital marketing while continuing to work full-time, I’d love to invite you to my FREE live webinar every Wednesday evening.
